Rummager remembers where things are so you don't have to. Electronics in the garage, books on the landing, what's at the back of the freezer: tell it once, in whatever words you'd use, and ask it again later.
The two halves
- Stash
- Recording something: what it is, how many, and where. "The tent is in the loft" is a complete stash.
- Rummage
- Finding it again. A name, half a name, a typo or what it's for ("something to fix a puncture") will usually do.
Your first five minutes
- Add a thing. Add asks what it is and where — type the place as you'd say it, "garage > rack > box 3", and any shelf or box that doesn't exist yet is made. Or type a sentence into Ask if the assistant is switched on.
- Find it again. Home searches as you type.
The menu
- Home
- Search, or tell the Rummager something, with your lists beneath. See Home and search.
- Add
- Put something away. See Adding something.
- Your pinned lists
- Shopping and Eat soon to start with. See Lists.
- Manage
- Everything else, one level down. See Manage.
Your lists
Shopping and Eat soon are in the menu from the start. They fill themselves in from what you've recorded, and you can make your own — "what's low in the kitchen" — on Lists. See Lists.
Which way in?
There are several ways to add things, because the moment differs:
- At a desk, with time: Things — the full form.
- Holding a packet with a barcode: Scan.
- Want to say it in a sentence: Ask the Rummager.
- In the garage with no signal, or no time: Capture — jot it down and sort it out later from the Inbox.
- Labelling a lot of boxes: Labels, under Manage.
Spaces
Everything lives in a space — usually one per household. The name at the top left is the space you're in, and the menu under it switches between them. Two people in the same space see the same things. See Spaces and sharing.
Nothing is final
Every change is logged, and almost all of them can be undone from Activity. Deleting something is not a disaster. See Activity and undo.
