The menu has four kinds of thing in it: Home, Add, the lists you've pinned, and Manage. Manage is everything else, one level down.
Why it's tucked away
None of it is needed to find or add things. Places and tags are made by typing them when you add something, and fixed by editing the thing they're wrong on. Manage is for when you want to see the whole of something — every place, every tag — or tidy it up.

Changing what's in the menu
Open any list and press Add to menu, or untick it to take it out. Shopping and Eat soon start there; your own lists can join them.
